On May 29th this eagle was brought to MARS suffering from a broken bone in the left wing. We are happy to report that the break has healed and ‘Nootka’ can fly! The wing is still drooping and he needs flight conditioning. Our flight pen is inadequate for this and on Friday he will be sent down to North Island Wildlife Recovery. Our crowdfunding campaign may be over but the plan to build a new wildlife centre still stands. We hope to one day have a flight pen large enough for these beautiful birds, so they will not have to undergo the additional stress of being transported to other centres.
