Donate Goods
Our Hospital Wish List has practical donations like food, linens, and cleaning products we regularly need.
Donations can be dropped off at the MARS Wildlife Hospital at 1331 Williams Beach Road, Merville, BC or mailed to P.O. Box 415, Merville, BC, V0R 2M0.

Current Needs
We are in particular / urgent need of these items:
- unscented bleach
- paper towel
- dish soap
- Esbilac: puppy milk replacer
- KMR: kitten milk replacer
- heating pads (that do not auto-shut off. Examples can be found on our Amazon Wish List).
- Nitrile gloves (particularly smalls and medium)
And food:
- fresh or frozen fish (whole or fillets. Please, nothing freezer burned or older than two years)
- human grade chicken (store bought or from a butcher)
Everyday Needs
The small things really help, and we are always on the lookout for bits and pieces, odds and ends, such as:
Everyday items needs:
- facial tissues/Kleenex
- garbage bags (small kitchen bags and large black ones)
- human vitamins or supplements (Vitamin B1, Vitamin D, Vitamin A, Vitamin E capsules, Cod Liver Oil with Vitamin A & D, calcium, etc)
- pet medications (Metacam, Clindamycin/Antirobe, Clavaseptin, Clavamox, Baytril, etc.)
- toddler/pet safe toys
- stuffed animals (without pellets or beans)
- any chewable/edible toys for small mammals and birds (available at Feathered Addictions)
- working heat lamps
- puppy pads
Everyday food needs:
- leafy greens
- vegetables (particularly sprouts, yams)
- canned dog food
- shrimp
- chicken (not home raised due to our HPAI restrictions currently in place)
- red meat (MUST NOT BE LEAD SHOT)
- fruit (depending on amount due to limited storage)
Linens:
- towels (particularly medium and large)
- flat sheets
- fitted sheets
- pillow cases
- hospital pads
- fleece blankets
- duvet covers
If you have anything useful and not on the list above, please call our hospital at 250-337-2021.
Linens we are unable to accept:
- wash cloths
- knitted or crocheted items (they snag toes and fingers)
- pillows
- comforters
- duvets
- mattress protectors
- shower curtains
- curtains
- table cloths
- clothing
- anything with holes and dangerous loose threads
Unable to accept
It is very hard to say no to generous people, but there are just some items we can’t accept!
Food we are unable to accept:
- garden potatoes
- apples
- pork (as it is not fed to patients)
- moose meat
- anything freezer-burned or over 2 years old
- lead shot venison / elk
- home-raised poultry or waterfowl meat or eggs (this may change in the future when our Avian Influenza restrictions change)
- bullfrogs
Items for the Hospital:
- anything rusted or cracked (kennels with breakages or rusted parts)
- used bike or car tires
- certain toys and linens (information can be found in the lists above)
- aquariums
- rodent cages
- wire dog crates (this may change in the future, we are currently unable to store them)

Items for the Visitor Centre:
We generally cannot accept items for resale such as framed art, used furniture, coffee table books, single copies of books, etc. We don’t have the volunteers or the space required to store, advertise, and sell unique items.
We can sometimes sell donated goods that are wildlife-themed but these are accepted at the manager’s discretion.

Donated native trees and plants will be considered by the habitat restoration team; some plants don’t suit our site.
