We were very excited at MARS yesterday to see a leucistic American Robin foraging around the property with a flock of regular American Robins! An amazing and rare sight which most of us had never seen before. At first glance, it was thought to be someones escaped pet bird! This robin is what is called piebald leucistic, meaning that it still retains some of the normal colouring and is not totally white. As you can imagine, this bird needs to be extra alert for predators since he stands out so much in his natural environment. We wish him well and hope to see him again!
