This eagle was discovered on a beach unable to fly, in a remote area on the west coast of Nootka Island, which is located on the west coast of Vancouver Island. Thank You to his rescuer Steve Wall, for not only capturing the bird but flying him inland, where we were able to pick him up and transport him to MARS for treatment. He was very thin and X-rays showed a broken bone in the left wing. The vet does not believe surgery to be necessary. The adjacent bone is intact and should act as a splint, holding the broken bone in place while it heals. Receiving meds for pain and any potential infection, he is eating very well and has really perked up in the last few days. We believe this bird to be a large male. Thankfully, he has no brood patch and therefore was not raising young at the time. We’re calling him ‘Nootka’
